The flowers in the illustration are periwinkles (ha!). In hanakotoba, they symbolize:
楽しい思い出 ’tanoshii omoide’ happy memories
幼なじみ ‘osananajimi’ childhood friends
Periwinkle’s JP name is ツルニチニチソウ tsurunichinichisou. The name seems to come from the fact that it’s a vine (tsuru) and it blooms flowers every day (nichinichi).
